Venue - Coimbra

Officially created in 1974 by conversion of the Coimbra Industrial School, the Coimbra Institute of Engineering (ISEC) is one of the oldest schools of the Polytechnic University of Coimbra. Spanning a campus of more than 50,000 m², it hosts over 3,300 students.

The campus includes six departments, modern laboratories, auditoriums, bars, a canteen, and other facilities designed to support both academic and social activities.

The city of Coimbra, centrally located in Portugal, is famous for its historic university, founded in 1290, one of the oldest in Europe. However, Coimbra offers much more than its university: it is a vibrant city with a thriving ecosystem of higher education institutions, research centres, and startups, while preserving its historic monuments, beautiful parks, gardens, and the scenic Mondego River.

Coimbra is accessible by train through CP and by express buses such as Rede Expressos and Flixbus.

The nearest airports are Pedras Rubras (Porto) and Sá Carneiro (Lisboa).

Other cities worth visiting in the Coimbra district include:

  • Figueira da Foz – famous for its white sand beaches (40 km).
  • Montemor-o-Velho – renowned for its medieval castle (on the way to Figueira).
  • Lousã – known for its castle and scenic mountain landscapes (30 km).
